Intro

You start at the edge of the jungle, surrounded by greenery. The pace of the expedition is steady and active, designed to keep you moving while fully experiencing the environment.

You’ll explore multiple cenotes on a private property, all within walking distance. The water is exceptionally clear, ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Along the way, there are opportunities for cliff jumps, ziplining through the jungle canopy, canyoning, and time to slow down on calm water in a canoe.

The day ends in a Mayan village, where you’re served freshly prepared, traditional food in an authentic setting. (Guacamole was unreal)

A moderate fitness level is recommended to enjoy the hike and activities comfortably. Bring a swimsuit, water shoes, and a quick-dry towel.

A trained guide is present throughout the experience, and all essential safety equipment is provided to ensure a safe and confident adventure.

How to get there

We were picked up by the Living Dreams Team at our villa in Tulum and had around a 30 minute drive to get to the location. The best departure times from your home in or around Tulum are early until mid-morning. This timing avoids the midday heat and offers the clearest light for photography and enjoying the jungle atmosphere.

You'll go through a quick check-in where you sign a waiver, and then you're good to go!

Swimmable Cenotes and Cliff Jumping

On this private jungle expedition, you'll experience a variety of swimmable cenotes, each offering unique features and adventures.

Cenotes are natural sinkholes formed by collapsed limestone, creating pools of crystal-clear water. They come in different types:

Open Cenotes: These are open to the sky, offering expansive views and ample sunlight.
Semi-Open Cenotes: Partially covered by rock formations, providing a mix of sunlight and shade.
Photography Tips:
Optimal Lighting: Aim for early morning visits to capture soft, diffused light.
Platform Positioning: Stand on platforms to frame shots with natural surroundings.
Avoid Direct Sunlight: Midday sun can cause harsh shadows; opt for overcast days for even lighting.

By following these guidelines, you'll ensure a safe and memorable experience at each cenote.

During your private jungle expedition, you’ll explore multiple cenotes on an exclusive property and experience four different ziplines. One zipline even allows you to jump directly into a cenote.

Main Jungle Kayak Cenote

A large open cenote surrounded by jungle, explored by kayak. The water is exceptionally clear, making it easy to spot turtles beneath the surface. Calm and scenic, this cenote is perfect for slowing down and taking in the environment.

Smaller swimming Cenote

An open cenote ideal for swimming and snorkeling. The water clarity here is remarkable, and the setting feels quiet and untouched due to the private location.

Half Cave Cenote

Partially covered by a natural cave, this cenote feels more intimate and atmospheric. Light filters in through the openings, creating a unique contrast between shadow and crystal-clear water. Best enjoyed at a relaxed pace.

Zipline Jump Cenote

The most adventurous stop of the expedition. You arrive via zipline and can jump a few meters straight into the cenote below. A pure adrenaline moment and a highlight for adventure seekers.

Ziplines

The experience includes four different ziplines through the jungle canopy, connecting parts of the property and adding an extra layer of adventure throughout the day.

Local Cuisine and Mayan Experiences

The experience ends with a late lunch in a local Mayan village, and honestly, it’s one of the highlights. Everything is prepared fresh and served family-style, creating a relaxed, communal atmosphere.

We had tacos with incredible guacamole, and pico de gallo that was wow. There’s also meat available, all cooked in a very traditional way. And the churros… insane. So good I had to go back for a second plate. The meal is finished with Mexican coffee, which is the perfect way to slow down after an active day.

This is someone’s home and daily life, so it’s always respectful to ask before taking photos, especially of people or inside kitchens. If you have dietary preferences or restrictions, it’s best to mention them when booking so everything can be prepared accordingly.
