Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2025

At Videreo (“Videreo,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), we value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our websites, apps, APIs, and services (the “Services”) — including logging in via Instagram and importing content. By using the Services, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Who Controls Your Data

Videreo is the data controller for personal information processed in connection with the Services. Contact details are provided in Section 13.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information to operate and improve the Services. This may include:

  • Account & Profile Data: Name, email, password (hashed), and settings you provide when creating or managing an account.
  • Instagram Login & Imports: If you connect Instagram, we may receive your Instagram user ID and the profile/media data you authorize (e.g., media URLs, captions, timestamps, basic profile info), strictly within the scope of your consent.
  • User Content & Metadata: Videos, images, titles, tags, captions, locations/POIs, and other metadata you upload or import.
  • Usage Data: Interactions with features (views, clicks, shares), creator storefront activity, affiliate/booking link clicks, and performance metrics.
  • Device & Technical Data: IP address, device type, OS, browser, language settings, referring URLs, and diagnostic logs.
  • Cookies & Similar Technologies: We use cookies/local storage for authentication, preferences, analytics, and performance. See Section 10.

We may aggregate or de-identify data so it can no longer reasonably identify you; such data is not considered personal information.

3. Legal Bases (EEA/UK/Switzerland)

Where applicable, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Contract: To provide the Services you request (e.g., account, hosting, playback).
  • Legitimate Interests: To secure, improve, personalize, and develop the Services; prevent abuse; and measure performance.
  • Consent: For Instagram connection/imports, certain analytics, marketing communications, and optional third-party distribution (where required).
  • Legal Obligation: To comply with applicable laws and regulations.

4. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide & Maintain the Services: Account management, hosting, playback, shoppable video and interactive maps.
  • AI-Powered Processing: Tagging, classification, deduplication, location/POI detection, thumbnails, transcripts, quality enhancement, and analytics to improve discoverability and performance.
  • Distribution & Monetization: Unless you opt out (see Section 6), we may distribute your content to partner channels to increase reach; we may display affiliate/booking links for attribution.
  • Communications: Service, transactional, and product messages; you can opt out of marketing at any time.
  • Security & Compliance: Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security risks, and legal requirements.

We do not engage in solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects without appropriate safeguards and notices.

5. How We Share Information

  • Service Providers: Hosting, storage, analytics, security, communications, and payment processors under contracts that limit use of your data.
  • Distribution Partners: If distribution is enabled (default for non-paid plans), we may share your public content/metadata/attribution to increase reach and drive bookings (see Section 6).
  • Legal & Safety: When required by law, valid legal process, or to protect users, us, or the public.
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to continued protection of your data.

We do not sell your personal information. Commercial licensing of your content beyond distribution for promotion/traffic requires your explicit consent or a separate agreement.

6. Content Distribution Controls

By default, distribution to partner channels may be enabled to help creators gain reach and monetization. Creators on paid plans can disable third-party distribution in settings. When you turn off distribution, we will cease further distribution and use reasonable efforts to request removal from partners; propagation may take time and may be outside our direct control.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Technical backups and caches may persist for a limited period after deletion.

8. Your Rights & Choices

  • Access, Correction, Deletion: Manage your data in settings or contact us.
  • Portability & Restriction: Where applicable, request a copy or limit processing.
  • Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interests, including profiling.
  • Marketing Opt-Out: Unsubscribe from promotional emails at any time (transactional emails will continue).
  • Instagram Permissions: Revoke Instagram access via your Instagram settings or contact us.
  • Account Deletion: Permanently delete your account and all hosted/imported content in settings.

If you are in the EEA/UK/Switzerland, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Data Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your credentials safe and notify us of any suspected unauthorized access.

10. Cookies & Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, measure performance, and improve the Services. You can control cookies via your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may impact functionality.

Our Services may not respond to “Do Not Track” signals due to the lack of a common industry standard.

11. International Data Transfers

Videreo is based in Switzerland and may process information in other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect personal data transferred from the EEA/UK/Switzerland to third countries.

12. Children’s Privacy

The Services are not intended for children under 13 (or the age required by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us for prompt removal.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via the Services or email. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
