Reaching San Sebastián is straightforward, thanks to its well-connected transport options. Here's how you can get there: **By train** San Sebastián is incredibly well-connected by rail, with high-speed trains connecting the city to the country's capital, Madrid, in just over 5 hours. Trains also connect San Sebastián to other major cities, including Burgos, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Valladolid, Barcelona, Zaragoza, Pamplona, and Bilbao, to name a few. **By local rail** San Sebastián has multiple stations serving the 'Euskotren', a local commuter train that goes through the Basque Country. The Euskotren takes you from Irún (the border town with France) and Hendaye (the French town just across the aforementioned border) all the way to Bilbao and throughout the Basque region. **By bus** San Sebastián has city, local, regional, and long-distance bus options available. We actually arrived in San Sebastián by bus, as they were doing work on a section of the track between Andoain and San Sebastián. Multiple bus companies operate here, including major Spanish carriers such as ALSA and Monbus, as well as Flixbus. **By air** San Sebastián has its own airport (code EAS), from which you'll need around 30 minutes to reach the city. Multiple airlines serve this small airport, including Volotea, Iberia, Vueling, British Airways and Binter Canarias. There are only a few flights each day, so most people arriving by air will need to fly to a larger airport nearby, such as Bilbao Airport, which has a shuttle service to the city.
